Black lives and Black voices matter to Cascade Writers as a writing workshop organization and to the writing community we serve.

Cascade Writers is committed to combating racism. We pledge to continue listening to, learning from, and taking action based on the work that for too long and too often has been and continues to be shouldered by the BIPOC community. As an organization we will continue to raise and promote the voices of marginalized writers through our scholarship opportunities, workshops, and class offerings.

Working to be anti-racist, whether as an organization or an individual person, is not a singular action. We will not be “cured” after any finite number of good deeds. No facet of the writing community, regardless of audience demographics, fiction or nonfiction, genre, or any other category marker is free of responsibility. Cascade Writers is dedicated to the continuous education required to make our community a more welcoming and more inclusive space. We are in this together.
